Additionally, we have a tarp in our webshop that can be closed like a tent. This way, you have a little extra protection for the night. Note that you need to combine the Slingfin SplitWing Tarp with a SplitWing Vestibule and possibly the SplitWing Floor.
Tarp to complement your tent
But what exactly is a tarp? A tarp is a canvas with many applications. Many people think that a tarp is the same as a shade cloth, but with a tarp, you can do much more. We are happy to tell you more about it.
What is a tarp?
A tarp is a strong, flexible, and waterproof cloth that you use as protection against wind, rain, and sun. With various attachment points at the edges and corners, you can place the tarp exactly as you want.
Applications of a tarp
With a bit of creativity, the applications of a tarp are endless. Below we mention some practical applications for which you can use a tarp during trekking.
Tarp to enlarge your living space
With a tarp, you enlarge the living space around your tent. This way, you can easily create a canopy that protects you from the sun and rain. In the rain, you can cook outside without getting wet, and in warm, sunny weather, you can relax in the shade next to your tent.
Tarp as a shade cloth
You want to protect a tent from sunlight because UV light will damage the tent fabric over time. Usually, you try to choose a spot where your tent is in the shade for part of the day. However, this is not always possible. Are you standing in the middle of the sun? Then use a tarp as a shade cloth to protect your tent from the sunlight. This way, your tent lasts longer. Of course, the tarp will also be affected by the sun, but it is much cheaper to replace than a tent. Additionally, the temperature in the tent remains more pleasant when it is not in the full sun all day.
Tarp as a windscreen
With a tarp, you can easily create a sheltered spot where you are protected from the wind.
Tarp as a tent
Are you trekking in warm and dry conditions? Then you can also use a tarp as a tent. A tarp is more compact and easier to carry. Ideal for lightweight campers.
