Splitboard interfaces

What are splitboard interfaces?

Splitboard interfaces connect your splitboard binding to your splitboard. This can be done in two ways: tour and ride mode. For each mode there is a different type of interface:

  • Tour interface
  • Ride interface

Tour interface

The tour interface connects your splitboard binding to your board in tour mode. While walking the heel is free, allowing a natural stride without having to lift your whole splitboard with every step.

All splitboard bindings at Snowcountry come standard with a tour interface.

Ride interface

With a ride interface you connect a splitboard binding to your board in ride mode. This is the snowboard position used during the descent.

Whether a ride interface is included with a splitboard binding varies by brand.

Which brands include both tour and ride interfaces?

  • Karakoram
  • Enfuse
  • Union
  • Plum

That is not the case for the brands Spark R&D, K2, Voilé, Burton, Nitro and SP. For these brands you need to buy a separate ride interface. Spark R&D and Voilé use the same ride interface system and are interchangeable. You also use this ride interface for K2, Burton, Nitro and SP, because these brands don’t have their own ride interface.

Do all ride interfaces fit all splitboards?

No, your splitboard, just like a snowboard, is equipped with ‘4x4 inserts’ or a ‘channel’ for mounting the ride interface. Many splitboards have 4x4 inserts, recognisable by two rows of screw holes. There are also an increasing number of splitboards that are compatible with both inserts and a channel.

Are all ride interfaces compatible with all brands?

No, certainly not. Most splitboard bindings have their own ride interface and these are not interchangeable. Exceptions are the ride interfaces from Spark R&D and Voilé. They use the same system where you slide the binding over the interface. In addition there are a number of brands that do not offer their own ride interface, namely K2, Burton, Nitro and SP. For these splitboard bindings choose a Spark or Voilé ride interface.
