Buying ski boots

If you’re buying ski boots we advise having them fitted during a bootfitting session. A foot analysis will determine which ski boots suit your foot. And for an optimal fit and performance you may need custom insoles and/or heating of the liner (inner boot) and/or the outer shell.

Buying ski boots online at Snowcountry

If you still want to buy ski boots online, it’s important that you measure your foot accurately yourself and use our size charts and product filters. We’re happy to help with our snowhow article: ‘What size ski boot do I need?’ In this article we help you:

  • determine your Mondopoint ski boot size
  • and the width of your foot.

With this information you can determine which ‘boot volume’ you have. By using your boot volume and Mondopoint in the filters of our webshop you’ll get the selection of ski boots that best match your size and foot shape.

What to look for when buying ski boots?

At Snowcountry you’ll find a large collection of ski boots. Many boots come with extra features, such as a walk mode or tech inserts. A walk mode unlocks the cuff of the boot for more ankle movement. This makes walking and touring in ski boots much easier and more comfortable. You need tech inserts when you go ski touring. These inserts are required to use your ski boot with tech touring bindings.

Boot flex

The flex of a ski boot describes its stiffness. A boot with a high flex is stiffer than one with a low flex. At Snowcountry we stock almost exclusively boots with a flex between 90 and 140.

  • Low flex <90: for beginner skiers who need a forgiving, easy-to-flex ski boot.
  • Medium flex 90 - 110: for average skiers who want the ski to respond directly enough to carve.
  • Medium-high flex 120: for advanced skiers who know how to build up pressure for good carve turns.
  • High flex 130 - 140: for very advanced skiers.
