How many litres do I need in a backpack?

How large a backpack should be depends on what you're taking with you. If you're out for a few hours and want to take food and drink, a 20 to 25 litre backpack will probably be enough. If you're carrying food and drink for the whole family you'll need a bigger backpack. And if you're planning long day trips where you also want to take extra clothing, look at backpacks of around 35 litres.
