Ski and snowboard helmets

Get optimal protection with our ski and snowboard helmets from top brands like Anon, POC, Smith and Sweet Protection. In our large collection you'll find helmets for skiing, ski touring, snowboarding and splitboarding. Some helmets are also suitable for climbing.

Choosing the right ski or snowboard helmet

If you're buying a ski or snowboard helmet, start with the size. For proper protection it's important that a helmet fits your head well. A helmet that's too small is uncomfortable and one that's too large offers less protection.

The right helmet size

To know which size ski or snowboard helmet you need, measure your head circumference. Wrap a tape measure around your head, just above your ears. Keep the tape as horizontal as possible. The number of centimetres is your head circumference. On the product page you'll find a size chart for each helmet to determine the correct helmet size.

Which helmet brand suits which head shape?

Besides helmet size, head shape also matters, but what fit does which helmet have? We've investigated this for you and created an infographic that helps you determine which brands and models suit you best based on your head shape. Go to our snowhow where we explain more about helmet sizes and fits.

What is MIPS technology?

Many helmets these days are equipped with MIPS technology, but what does that actually mean? MIPS stands for 'Multi-directional Impact Protection System'. MIPS is an extra layer between the outer shell and the foam liner of your helmet. This extra layer can move a few millimetres, reducing the impact of harmful rotational forces. MIPS has been shown to be effective.

Other MIPS systems

Although MIPS is the best known, other brands have developed their own similar systems. For example, Anon has developed WaveCel technology and Atomic has AMID technology. Although the way these technologies work differs slightly, the effect is the same. Want a helmet that offers optimal protection? We always recommend a helmet with MIPS, AMID or WaveCel technology.

Visor helmets

Especially on the slopes you'll see more and more visor helmets, helmets with an integrated visor so you don't need separate goggles. A visor helmet is always within reach and is ideal for winter-sports enthusiasts who wear glasses, because a visor often fits over spectacles. The downside of a visor helmet is that it often doesn't sit as closely to your face, so you feel the cold sooner and powder snow can get into your eyes more easily.

Multi-certification

The helmets in the Snowcountry webshop always comply with European safety standards for skiing and snowboarding. We also offer several helmets with multi-certification. That means the helmet is not only intended for winter sports but also for, for example, climbing or cycling. Below is an overview of helmets in our assortment with multi-certification.
