Avalanche kits: beacon, probe and shovel
Always prepared with a complete avalanche safety kit
Ski touring, splitboarding and freeriding takes you well beyond controlled pistes. In the backcountry there is always a risk of an avalanche and an avalanche safety kit is vital. The three components are an avalanche beacon, probe and shovel. Everyone you go out with must carry a complete set and know how it works. Only then will everyone be able to rescue one another in the event of an avalanche.
Why choose an avalanche safety kit?
With an avalanche safety kit you get, in a single purchase, the most important items you need when heading off-piste. Buying a set is convenient and more affordable.
How do you carry an avalanche safety kit?
You should always wear the avalanche beacon where it is easy to reach, usually under your jacket on your chest in the harness supplied. This way you'll have your transceiver at hand within seconds. Carry the probe and shovel in a backpack with a dedicated avalanche compartment or avalanche airbag. It's important that your backpack has a pocket for your shovel and probe so they're easy to reach. If you need the equipment, you shouldn't have to dig to the bottom of your backpack first, not in a stressful situation where every second counts.
Do I need an avalanche safety kit?
Yes! As soon as you go off-piste an avalanche safety set, the three essentials, is necessary. Without a beacon, probe and shovel you and your friends are helpless in an avalanche.
