In short

The best-known snowboard binding on the market has been revamped. The Burton Cartel is now available in two versions: the Cartel and the Cartel X. The X version has some upgrades compared to the 'regular' Cartel. A stiffer baseplate and a Supergrip Capstrap 2.0 have been added, with the highback featuring a Heel Hammock. The binding you can use wherever, whenever and however you want.

ENTRY SYSTEM

  • Traditional Strap Entry
    No gimmicks, no shortcuts, just the classic strap-in feel that has proven itself for years. A separate ankle strap and toe strap let you dial in support, pressure and board feel exactly how you like it. It is simple, reliable and direct, with the familiar locked-in feeling riders trust when it is time to drop in. Strap in and get after it.

CHASSIS

  • EST
    Burton's EST bindings are designed exclusively for boards with The Channel system, offering unmatched board feel and seamless energy transfer. With no hardware underfoot, the board flexes more naturally and response feels direct and precise. They also allow for super fine stance adjustments, ideal for riders who want total control over their setup.
  • The Hinge
    The Hinge allows you to set your forward lean and high-back rotation independently of each other.
  • Short-Glass/Nylon Composite Spar
    Composite spar construction adds strength and response to the dual-component baseplate setup.
  • SensoryBED cushioning
    The SensoryBED damping plates provide damping along the entire foot and are made to be more than just comfortable. They also make your feet less likely to tire and cramp up.
  • B3 Gel
    The B3 Gel compound ensures better impact protection.

HIGHBACK

  • Heel Hammock
    The Heel Hammock is a rubber addition where the heel of the boot meets. This allows you to loosen the binding with the same level of responsiveness as before.
  • Dial-FLAD highback
    The highback is medium stiff, making this a perfect all-mountain binding for the intermediate or experienced snowboarder. In addition, the Canted design of the higback supports the natural shape and contours of the lower leg. Riders who like a playful feel will use 'Zero' Forward Lean. However, you can also give your highback more forward lean to have better control during carving or riding an icy pipe.

STRAPS

The Hammockstrap 2.0 wraps around the curves of the boot while its shape prevents pressure points. It has an better fit than the first 'regular' Hammockstrap thanks to its extra cutouts.
  • Supergrip Captrap 2.0
    The minimalistic design of the Super Grip Capstrap 2.0 mixes two materials in an advanced toestrap. The frame of the strap is made of a stiff material while the outside is soft. The combination makes for a toestrap that stays in place.
  • Smooth Glide Buckles
    Easy-operating buckles that make strapping in smooth, quick and low-effort.
  • Flex Slider
    Burton's Flex Slider makes strapping in a breeze with a strategically stretched hinging zone that allows the heel strap to flex and fall fully open.
