Photochromic means the lens automatically adjusts to the lighting conditions. When the sun shines, the lens darkens. When it becomes cloudy, the lens becomes brighter. This ensures optimal visibility in all conditions, so you only need one lens!

VLT (Visible Light Transmission) is a measurement that specifies the percentage of light coming through the lens and reaching your eyes. A totally clear lens for dark conditions typically have around 60-80% VLT and a very dark colored lens with mirror for sunny conditions may have down to 25% VLT.
