In short

The K2 Skypilot is the new freeride snowboard from K2. The carbon construction provides stability and makes fast turns possible. The camber profile provides precision and pop. The Carbon Y Beam gives you extra snap and edge stability to have you railing turns and launching natural kickers whist still being highly maneuverable.

In detail

PROFILE

  • Twin Combination Camber Profile
A camber with a small rocker in the tip and tail. Applied to the more freestyle-oriented boards. Camber for precision and pop; rocker for float and predictability.
  • Volume Shift
Volume is moved from the tips and tails to the area underfoot, creating a wider, shorter board that keeps float and stability while adding mobility and maneuverability.

CORE

  • S1 Core
The smooth-flexing cousin to K2's A1 core, their S1 Core is designed to be damp underfoot and stronger than hell. Constructed from Bamboo, Aspen, and Paulownia, the S1 Core let’s each wood do what it’s best for. Tip-to-tail Bamboo stringers add snap, durability, and damping underfoot and are balanced out by lightweight paulownia in the midbody, tip, and tail help to reduce swingweight. Underfoot, Aspen and Bamboo are placed at 30 ° angles to increase strength, supercharge the edge-to-edge response, and increase the pressure distribution along the edge.

REINFORCEMENTS

  • Carbon Y Beam
Adds snap and stability to the tail while directing energy to the nose contact points. Delivering edge hold and control without excess torsional stiffness.
  • Hybritech
Backed by years of rigorous testing, Hybritech is the lightest weight, most durable snowboard construction on the market. Removing all excess sidewall material in the tip and tail and adding a 3D capped edge to increase the bond strength of the fiberglass and decrease the swing weight of the board is what makes Hybritech so revolutionary. These boards will spin faster, maneuver easier, and last longer than any other boards on the market.

  • Triaxial Glass
Three-layer fiberglass material woven at an angle of 0°, +45°, and -45°.

TOPSHEET

  • SnoPhobic Topsheet
Helps eliminate snow build up while touring up and riding down.

BASE

  • Wax Infused Sintered 4001 Base
Built using the hardest and fastest Sintered base material on the market from Crown, the Wax-Infused Sintered 4001 holds wax longer than other Sintered bases for a smoother glide, longer.
  • 3D Base Contour
A 3 mm contour blend from the running surface helps the board release more smoothly and adds a looser, more surfy feel through turns.

Characteristics

  1. Directional Rocker-Camber-Rocker

    Profile

Directional Rocker-Camber-Rocker - The camber between the feet provides grip and power, while the longer rocker in the nose improves float and makes turn initiation easier. The shorter rocker in the tail makes the board easier to steer and creates a more playful, forgiving ride than Camber-Rocker-Camber. You will mainly find this profile in all-mountain and freeride boards.

  2. Directional

    Shape

Directional - On a directional snowboard, the nose and tail are deliberately designed differently, and the board is intended to be ridden primarily in one direction. The nose is often longer and wider than the tail, while the stance is positioned further back. These features are known as taper and setback. The nose also often has a softer flex than the tail. This combination provides additional float in powder, smooth turn initiation and greater stability at speed. Directional shapes are mainly found on all-mountain, freeride and powder boards.

  3. Sintered

    Base Speed

Sintered Base - A sintered base is compressed under high pressure and has a porous structure that absorbs plenty of wax. This makes the base faster and allows it to perform better in changing snow conditions. The material is harder and more wear-resistant than an extruded base, but it requires regular waxing and is more difficult to repair. A good choice for advanced riders who value speed and performance.

  4. Medium-Stiff & Responsive
