In short

The GNU Banked Country split is a magical metamorphasis…their refined resort carving pow slaying machine has transformed into a lightweight climbing, powder and adrenalin access tool. A radically refined directional geometry/shape that includes a floaty nose, mild taper, Banked Slalom winning side cut and their unique Progressive “teeth in the tail” MagneTraction ® for quiet turn entry and unbelievable hook up in the tail to finish. A lightweight Paulownia core make this an effortless climber and floaty smooth rider. Karakoram Ultra Clips lock it all together for a solid board feel and speedy smooth transitions. Highly refined, heavily tested by the boys and you know this is the right stick when you are in Banked Country.

In detail

PROFILE

  • C3Camber
C3 is the most aggressive shape from the Mervin factory. Still a rocker between the feet but with a lot more emphasis on the camber under the bindings. This gives you a board that rides more aggressively, is more precise and has more pop and still manages to create some float.

  • Thin Tip and Tails
A thinner tip and tail, which results in a lower swing rate and less weight in your board.

CORE

  • Splitboard Construction
Splitboard Construction is made for going into the backcountry. This core had to be light and strong. The core consists of: 95% Paulownia and 5% Aspen. Two layers of tri-ax fiberglass with a basalt webbing provide the torsional stiffness and cushioning when you're not in hip-deep powder. A core you can rely on on the way down in varying terrain, but also light enough for touring.

REINFORCEMENTS

  • Tri-Ax/Bi-Ax
A layer of Tri-Ax/Bi-Ax fibreglass is added to the Gnu boards. This triaxial/biaxial reinforcement ensures extra responsiveness and a more active snowboard in all types of terrain.

TOPSHEET

  • Eco Sublimated Poly Top
Strong polyester topsheet made in the Mervin factory. Eco-friendly, with a beautiful design.

BASE

  • Sintered Knife Cut Base
This is Gnu's sintered base. This base is fast, durable and absorbent. Like other sintered bases, the wax absorbs quickly and improves the glide.

SIDEWALL & EDGES

  • UHMW Sidewall
A fast and strong sidewall that can handle some heavy-duty work.

SPLITBOARD TECH

  • Karakoram Ultra Clips 1.0
The Ultra Clips 1.0 remain some of the strongest and lowest profile clips in the industry. They are adjustable so you can maintain even compression as your splitboard ages.
