Quick overview

The K2 Instrument is designed for riders who love to flow down the mountain like a jazz musician riffing on stage. This directional board, enhanced with Volume Shift™ for added width, is built to carve deep trenches on groomers and handle unpredictable terrain. Its shape makes turn initiation easy, with a 3/4" setback and 10mm taper providing excellent float in powder. The Instrument delivers a responsive feel with smooth power transfer and the stability needed when conditions get intense, perfect for all-mountain riders who embrace spontaneity and adaptability on any given day.

PROFILE

  • Directional Camber Profile
    A camber up to the front foot and a small rocker in the tip. Applied to the more freeride-oriented boards. Camber for precision and pop; rocker for float and predictability.

  • Volume Shift
    K2 moved volume from the tips and tails of traditional snowboard shapes and placed it underfoot where it can be better controlled. This makes a wider, shorter design that maintains the same float and stability of a traditional board, but increases mobility and maneuverability. More slashing and better lines in the trees are now a reality.

CORE

  • S1 Core
    The smooth-flexing cousin to K2's A1 core, their S1 Core is designed to be damp underfoot and stronger than hell. Constructed from Bamboo, Aspen, and Paulownia, the S1 Core let’s each wood do what it’s best for. Tip-to-tail Bamboo stringers add snap, durability, and damping underfoot and are balanced out by lightweight paulownia in the midbody, tip, and tail help to reduce swingweight. Underfoot, Aspen and Bamboo are placed at 30 ° angles to increase strength, supercharge the edge-to-edge response, and increase the pressure distribution along the edge.

 

REINFORCEMENTS

  • ICG Carbon Glass
    Integrating tip-to-tail carbon fiber stringers into fiberglass lay-ups ensures a smooth power release in and out of turns while increasing pop, liveliness, and longevity of the snowboard without adding unneccesary rigidity. K2 offers ICG™ glass in two variations; ICG 10 biax and ICG 20 triax.

  • Carbon Torque Forks
    Adding carbon that extends from the inserts to the contact point allows for an extra responsive and stable ride.

BASE

  • Sintered 4000 Base
    K2's sintered 4000 base absorbs wax deep into the material for relentless glide and unrivaled durability.
