In short

Designed for narrow couloirs and deep powder, the Jones Hovercraft Split 2.0 floats like the best. Its broad stocky shape makes it very manoeuvrable between trees, in couloirs and, of course, uphill. The blunt nose and directional rocker ensure party in powder and the Inside & Outside Traction provide grip both up and down. Because woodveneer is used in the topsheet and prints are applied using laser, one of the most environmentally friendly boards made by Jones. This year the Jones Hovercraft Split comes in unisex sizing and is made from old snowboards, making it Jones their most responsibly produced splitboard. 

In detail

PROFILE

  • Directional Rocker
    A hybrid rocker/camber flex pattern defined by more tip rocker then tail rocker and camber between the bindings. The rockered tip floats the board’s nose and improves maneuverability while the camber underfoot provides edge hold and response. A slightly rockered tail maintains the power and stability of a traditional board but helps keep the tail catch-free initiating turns and landing switch.

  • 3D Contour Base 3.0
    Freeride nose with 7mm spoon and 0 to 7mm spoon in the tail. The spoon starts where the rocker starts. This ensures a better glide, smooth edge change and float.

  • Blunt Nose
    Wider capped nose. As a result, you plow less through the snow and it looks like you have a longer nose. You also get a lower swing rate.

  • Progressive Sidecut
    By increasing the sidecut radius towards the contact points, the board gets a smooth entry and exit phase during your turns.

CORE

  • FSC Control Core
    Dual core with 2:1 Paulownia and Poplar. Keeps the core light and dampens vibrations.

REINFORCEMENTS

  • Biax Fiberglass
    2-dimensional fiberglass layer therefore less stiff, which ensures a comfortable and playful character.

BASE

  • Sintered 8000 Base
    Super strong, durable and fast base which is relatively easy to repair due to the combination of Polyethylene and Carbon UHMW-PE. Slightly less wax absorption compared to the 9900 version.

  • Wend Natural Wax
    Jones boards are ready to shred straight out of the shop and are factory waxed with WEND natural wax.

TOPSHEET

  • FSC Engineered Veneer Topsheet
    A mixed wooden topsheet. Made from 100% FSC certified wood laminate. Damps and absorbs vibration from the board.

  • No Ink! Laser Engraved Graphics
    The Hovercraft Series now features laser etched topsheet graphics that eliminate toxix inks.

SIDEWALL & EDGES

  • Oversized Recycled Edges
    All Jones boards are made with oversized recycled steel edges for added durability and improved production sustainability.

  • Recycled ABS
    Jones recycles as much of the base materials as possible to minimize the impact on the environment. So the base of the board above can be 'inverted' (flipped). By always reversing the colors of the base, as little base material as possible is wasted. We cannot therefore promise you a base variant as we also receive them differently.

  • Stainless Steel Reinforcements
    Stainless steel plates are embedded into the nose and tail for improved board tip durability.

  • Inner Traction Tech
    Traction Tech for splitboards. The steel edges on the inside also have traction tech. This results in more grip during splitting.

  • Factory Tuned
    All Jones snowboards are factory de-tuned at the tip and tail so you can go right from the shop to the mountain.

OTHERS

  • Forever Flex
    Forever Flex is a new manufacturing process that helps stabilise the flex and rocker of a board for its lifetime.

  • Super Sap Bio Resin
    All Jones boards are now built with bio-based, renewable epoxy instead of petroleum based epoxy. The raw materials used to make Super Sap Bio-Resin are coproducts or waste products of other plant based industrial processes. Producing Super Sap requires 33% less greenhouse gas emissions than conventional epoxy.

SPLITBOARD TECH

  • Karakoram Ultra Clips 1.0
    The Ultra Clips 1.0 remain some of the strongest and lowest profile clips in the industry. They are adjustable so you can maintain even compression as your splitboard ages.

 

  • Quick Tension Tail
    The Quick Tension Tail Clip is a lightweight tail clip system designed to fit all 2016 and newer Jones splitboards. Jones splitboards have a notch cut into the tail of both skis that allows the Quick Tension Tail Clip to simply slide into the notch and secure the skin.

  • Karakoram Tip-Lock Tip Clips
    Every splitboarder knows the feeling – you drop into a firm line and your tip clip pops open! Never again. Using Active Joining Technology, the Karakoram Tip-Lock Tip Clips quickly lock and clamp the tips of your splitboard with the flick of the lever.
