The Bergans Of Norway Y MountainLine Safeback Lid for Daypack 40 is equipped with the new avalanche safety system Safeback SBX and designed to provide air to avalanche buried victims. It can be quickly attached to the Bergans of Norway Y MoutainLine 40 Daypack when you enter the avalanche area. The Safeback SBX technology allows avalanche victims to breathe under the snow, increasing their chance of survival by up to 90 minutes!

When activated by the T-shape handle, SBX creates an airflow through the snow, providing fresh air to the breathing area. This ensures access to oxygen and pushes away excess CO2. Avalanche snow contains a large amount of air, which SBX uses to supply oxygen to the victim through the hoses on the shoulder straps and prevent suffocation, regardless of whether they have an air pocket or not.

In detail

Safeback SBX is an Avalanche Survival System designed to allow avalanche victims to breathe under the snow, extending their potential survival window while buried from 15 to a minimum of 90 minutes!

When activated by the T-shape handle, SBX creates an airflow through the snow, providing fresh air to the breathing area. This ensures access to oxygen and pushes away excess CO2. Avalanche snow contains a large amount of air, which SBX uses to supply oxygen to the victim through the hoses on the shoulder straps and prevent suffocation, regardless of whether they have an air pocket or not. Today, the time for avalanche rescues is 15 minutes to prevent deaths from asphyxiation (75% of avalanche deaths). On a full charge, the SBX can provide continuous air for 90 minutes at -30°C / -22°F. The running time increases at higher temperatures:
