Quick overview

The Furberg Big Mtn Split was developed to tackle any kind of snow and terrain you might find in the backcountry. The combination of high-speed stability, maneuverability and catch-free properties has made the Freeride one of the most talked about snowboards of the past few years. Its long sidecut radius (+/- 13m) and rocker with reverse sidecut in tip and tail make this board calm and stable, forgiving and catch free. With Floorboard Technology your split will feel as a solid. Furberg keeps the 160 under 3 kilo's.

PROFILE

  • Low Camber
The best compromise between the flotation of full rocker, responsiveness and grip of camber.

  • Rocker and Reverse Sidecut
When a board is ridden flat on the snow, a long rocker transition will make the nose of the board impact irregularities with a low angle of incidence and slide over with little resistance. Furberg combined the rocker with a reverse sidecut in nose and tail to maintain this low angle of incidence when riding the board on edge. The long transitions of the reverse sidecut make the board turn more effortlessly since the typical pressure points at the end of the effective edge do not exist. The overall result is a very catch-free and surfy board.

  • Long Turn Radius
It is standard to use a longer turning radius on a freeride ski than on a slalom ski in the skiing industry; however, Furberg Snowboards is the only brand to adapt the turning radius for freeride snowboards. A longer turning radius generates better stability at higher speeds and, more importantly, gives the boards a calmer and more forgiving behavior by distributing the edge pressure over the entire contact length.

CORE

  • Poplar/Paulownia/Ash Core
Along the edges, Furberg uses ash instead of poplar for improved durability. The rest of the core is a mix of poplar and paulownia, with the lighter wood in less critical areas. 250g and 350g lighter then the Poplar core.

REINFORCEMENTS

  • Triax Fiberglass
Triaxial fiberglass is used to get a good torsional stiffness of the snowboard.

BASE

  • Isosport 7500 Sintered
Isosport 7500 Sintered is one of the fastest bases available on the market. The base is 1.3 mm thick, which is thicker than industry standard. This means that you can hit rocks harder without getting core shots and you can stone grind the base more times. The thicker base does add a few grams on the weight, but more importantly it gives the board a much longer life.

TOPSHEET

  • Isosport Brushed Polyamide Topsheet
The Isosport Polyamide topsheet is one of the most durable topsheets on the market. The texture makes the topsheet very scratch resistant and less snow sticks to it. Furberg also makes all their topsheets in light colors to further avoid snow sticking to them. Dark colored topsheets get warmed up more by the sun and therefore more snow will freeze to them. This is a simple, yet effective way to save weight without compromising on durability and performance.

SIDEWALL & EDGES

  • ABS Sidewalls
Provides enhanced durability while keeping the core safe from moisture.

  • Rockwell Hardness 48 Edges
The edges are considerably beefier than the industry standard, to be able to withstand harder impacts without cracking or deforming. The edges are fully wrapped around the board for maximum durability.

SPLITBOARD TECH

  • Floorboard Technology
The tongue and groove on Furberg's splitboards eliminates movement between the board halves. Gone is the lack of response that splitboards used to suffer from.

  • Splitboard scraper
In some specific conditions, snow tends to stick to your splitboard. This happens every now and then and is something most splitboarders are aware of. To make transitions a bit simpler on these days, Furberg developed a scraper tool to clean the inner edges and sidewalls from snow.

  • Extra heel riser inserts
Furberg splitboards come with an extra set of inserts for better hardboot compatibility.
