Quick overview

The Amplid Millisurf has State-of-the-art construction techniques and materials, pioneered by the original Milligram, bring this champion powder split in at a weight class all on its own. Wickedly responsive and effortless in deep snow, the Millisurf delivers knock-out performance every time you strap in, so that every turn is worth the hike. There’s no better feeling than racing up the skin track for first tracks and rubbing your buddies’ noses in your rapture as you make perfect virgin turns.

Details

PROFILE

  • Directional Cruise Camber
Early rise rocker for all-mountain dominance. Cruise camber’s toned-down dimensions deliver a precise and lively feel much like pop camber, but with much improved deep snow performance and a more “broken-in” feel out of the shrink-wrap. In Amplid’s directional snowboards a touch of early rise is added to cruise camber to improve buoyancy even further.

CORE

  • BBP Core
The lightest woodcore money can buy. Weightless paulownia and balsa are carefully arranged with stronger birch to save valuable grams without sacrificing strength.

  • HEXO2 Core
Spin to win with effortless style. The hexo2 core replaces specific areas of weightier wood at the tips with featherlight recycled paper honey-comb, practically eliminating swing weight.

  • Floatation Tips
Ultra-wide, low rising tips that exist purely to create lift in powder without sucking-up speed. They add a surfy feel to skis and snowboards.

  • Powder Pontoon
Spanning a snow hole with one split ski at full stride can snap it clean in two. Unidirectional flax/carbon stringers along the underside of the core increase bending stiffness, reducing “dishing” in deep snow and increasing breaking resistance. Flax fibres, which originate from a hemp like plant, are lightweight with good damping properties.

  • 3D Crust Buster
A convex nose profile which improves tracking and fluidity in three-dimensional snow. To retain responsiveness the contact points are not lifted.

TOPSHEET

  • Impact Pads
On the milligram we have added mulitdirectional glass pads in the binding area, to avoid dings caused by pointy corners of metal splitboard binding bases. These pads will enhance durability without adding undesired weight.

  • Full Carbon Jacket
Amplid’s full carbon jacket is the most expensive fiber laminate in amplid’s Arsenal. Carbon’s tensile strength to weight ratio is unbeatable, it allows the use of thinner, almost weightless laminates to achieve the same flex profile. Its responsive and energized feel are unique.

  • Tanga Technology
A partial, hardwearing topsheet material deliberately used in areas where chipping might otherwise occur. This minimalist approach reduces weight for touring.

  • Stratospheric
The concept is simple: a reflective topsheet = less heat build-up = less snow sticking = less weight. Stratospheric ensures a better reflection of the heat, which reduces the amount of snow sticking on. Perfect for when you want to go up the mountain on those bluebird days.

  • Nano Coating
Replacing a conventional topsheet on Amplid’s carbon touring equipment, Nano Film is an ultra-thin polyamide coating that offers great protection and improved snow-shedding properties with 50% less weight.

BASE

  • Sintered 7 HD Base
Amplid’s ultra-high density sintered base goes like shit-off-ashovel in all snow conditions. It is extremely hard and therefore more resistant to damage.

SIDEWALL

  • Split Tune
Amplid lightly rounds the edges at the tip and tail, outside of the effective edge. Blunting these edges reduces chipping to the topsheet caused by touring.

  • Gummy Wall
The new “gummy wall” used along the center split sets an end to unnerving crunching and enhances the friction of the two board halves when assembled.
